Job Title: Senior Technical Learning Specialist

Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire

Rate: £33.30ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £25.30ph PAYE

Employment Type: Contract (12 Months)

Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week

Job Description:

As part of our well established transformation programme, we are extensively growing our technical learning team, to enable our people to acquire, practice and deploy the skills required for us to deliver our comprehensive range of future vehicle programmes.

To achieve this will require careful planning when new solutions are being defined, close engagement with our Technical Specialists and Agile Chapters, effective co-ordination of internal and external delivery partners, and the ability to engage and excite our audiences.

This role is based in the Learning Academy and operates using an Agile Methodology and mindset to build and deploy a diverse range of new learning solutions at pace supporting all business areas. The squads engage in developing learning on the latest technologies and working methods to keep us at the forefront and drive operational excellence. 
 
Our Agile approach empowers our squads to identify the most appropriate solutions, build and showcase their creative and engaging learning content, and then take ownership of its deployment and success. The team operates a hybrid working model enabling home working and effective face to face working using our Gaydon facilities. If candidate has previous experiences in developing technical learning solutions and are keen to continue to develop own skills in our Business we are keen to hear from the candidate.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate business requirements and create targeted learning solutions which enable our people to grow and have business impact.
  • Enable the effective exchange of knowledge internally and keep updated on wider technical trends and developments externally which will shape our future business operations.
  • Work closely with other learning development squads, Product Owners, Internal Stakeholders, Marketing and Comms Teams to build tailored strategies for key projects in line with 2 week sprint cycles through a deep understanding of target audiences and target outcomes (ranging from novice level to developing existing professionals and experts).
  • Keep updated with changing practices in Learning and Development approaches, technologies and providers to integrate relevant elements into our operations.
  • Conduct external benchmarking to ensure our employee offering remains competitive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Take ownership for own work elements, negotiating, agreeing and executing relevant sprint tasks, and tracking these using JIRA.
  • Support the on-going evolution of our client's Learning Academy brand across a range of assets and platforms to ensure a consistent, accessible and identifiable offering.
  • Employ corporate business approach to standards of communication and work quality.

  • Internal learning development squads, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Chapter Leads.
  • Internal Stakeholders and Programme Sponsors.
  • Technical Specialists, Chapter Leads and Senior Project Sponsors.
  • External Delivery Partners.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:

  • Previous experience in the specification, creation or sourcing of technical learning solutions.
  • Credible and confident communicator (Written and verbal) able to work with all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and a track record of delivering on commitments.
  • Strong appreciation of approaches to blended learning design, approaches to adult learning and academic awards.
  • Effective and confident use in of relevant software tools in the creation and management of learning.
  • Embraces diversity and inclusion in their approach to their work and interaction with others.
  • Confident in researching new, sometimes complex technical concepts.
Desirable: 
  • Previous experience of working in a learning / education environment. 
  • Experience in approaches to learner engagement and impact assessment.
  • Experience of operating at all stages of the learning development cycle from discovery and specification through to impact assessment.
  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems.
  • An appreciation of Agile / Lean and systems thinking.
