Job Title: Flex Technician

Location: Reading (RG6 6LA) & Wokingham

Rate:  £17.71ph Umbrella (Inside IR35)

Employment Type: Contract (Until 19/03/2027)

Hours: Standard 36 Hours Per Week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

The role of Flex Technician is to perform a range of routine activities to support effective completion of projects and meet the customer’s contractual agreements. In this dynamic position, you may be placed in different departments or teams on a week-to-week basis, providing vital support wherever it's needed most and giving the role holder a unique opportunity to experience working with multiple teams in multiple areas. 

The role holder will perform lab admin and housekeeping activities, basic routine analysis, food production and food produt development and work in accordance with the food quality and safety standards and pharmaceutical GMP across different departments. There will be a requirement to work at both the Reading sites and the Wokingham. 

Experience of working with food, in a restaurant, cafe, food production. So they have some understanding of food safety is essential.

 

2. Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Technical

  1. Working in different laboratories as demand requires
  2. Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
  3. Perform a range of basic routine analysis, product manufacturing and sample preparation under supervision of a senior member of staff.
  4. Perform laboratory tasks following specified methodologies, such as Standard Operating Procedures.
  5. Use of specified instrumentation and laboratory equipment, including calibration where required.
  6. Produce reliable, accurate data and keep accurate records of laboratory work undertaken and results.
  7. Follow product formulations and methods considering standard operating procedures and food saftey to produce food products at bench scale or manufacturing.
  8. Operate basic lab and manufacturing equipment as directed in the companies CCC.
  9. Be competent in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse, etc.
  10. Perform admin and housekeeping duties as directed.

Knowledge: including education, qualifications and training

Educated to A / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline - Preferred
