Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: West Sussex - will be required to travel across West Sussex
Rate: £32.61ph working via an Umbrella Company (INSIDE IR35)
Hours: 37.5pw
Hours: Mon-Fri 9-5
Employment Type: Contract – To start ASAP, contract until 31/12/2026
KEY PURPOSE
Undertakes day to day management of your contract(s) covering a number of Client/ Customer sites typically of up to £6m per annum turnover. and ongoing development to ensure successful delivery of all service offers.
Responsible for delivering targeted profit and loss accounts and budget setting.
Leadership of your team and the development of your relationships with all key stakeholders

KEY AREAS OF COLLABORATION AND INFLUENCE
Reporting into the Key Account Portfolio Director, you will directly line manage a team of area managers. You will work collaboratively with your teams, clients and our client’s support functions such as HSEQ and People & Culture to ensure seamless, quality services are given to our clients; working with Finance to ensure accurate reporting; maintaining control to ensure delivery of sales, costs and profit targets
EXPERIENCE AND TRAITS
- Level 3 (or above) food safety certificate
- Intermediate health and safety certificate
- A good amount of experience at Area Manager level in the food and hospitality industry (ideally in school catering) with multi-site management
- Excellent experience of successfully managing a Profit and Loss account
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
- Proven ability to manage, lead and motivate a team of people
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel or equivalent computer packages
- Proven financial and commercial acumen
- High level focus on the achievement of targeted results
- High level of flexibility and a positive attitude to innovation and change
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Take personal responsibility for your own and the health and safety of others under your direction, setting a safety culture of the highest level that is lead by your example.
- Take ownership of any health and safety and food safety issues (following an audit, inspection or event) and manage to an improved solution
- Instil a culture of compliance by ensuring your team are briefed and compliant with the Food Policies (i.e. cultural, religious, ethnic, allergies, special diets)
- Consult with the Food Development Team and Customers to develop menus responding to feedback
- Lead contract negotiations as necessary and in line with the contract.Take ownership for concluding all negotiations, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Ensure knowledge of the tender proposal and contract. Adhere to all tender promises and contractual agreements.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with your Clients, attending regular meetings and proactively managing meeting outcomes.Ensure that all contractual meeting schedules are adhered to.
- Proactively manage succession so that you support progression whilst planning to fill important roles that may become vacant.
- Ensure understanding of and compliance with Company HR policies/procedures
- Develop and implement akey account management plan, review periodically and produce contingency plans to achieve business objectives

Additional information:
Patch of 3 or 4 areas (possibly 7) across West Sussex
Catering operational management ideally
Travelling across sites throughout the week mixed with work from home or use local offices
Driving license required due to travel requirements of the role
Enhanced DBS is ideal, however if candidates do not have this then this can be processed once the client has selected a candidate for the role.
